Sometimes called a living fossil due to its prevalence of similar species in ancient prehistory, the Monkey Puzzle as it is also known is the National tree of Chile. It is truly a fascinating tree. It's leaves which are triangular, thick, tough and very prickly, are said to have a life span of approx 24 years and the tree itself approx 1000 years. Hardy evergreen which grows to approx 30-40 mtrs.
